About Keeper Hill
Keeper Hill (692 m) is a rounded hill in north County Tipperary, east of Limerick city and south of Lough Derg. It is the high point of the hills around Newport, and with 605 m of prominence and no higher ground nearby it stands out across the surrounding farmland.
Conifer forest covers much of the lower slopes, and forest tracks lead walkers up through the trees onto the open hillside. Above the forest the ground turns to heather and bog. A mast and trig point mark the summit area.
On a clear day the view takes in the Shannon, Lough Derg, the Galtees to the south and the Slieve Bloom to the north-east.
Keeper Hill is 692 m (2,269 ft) high with 605 m of prominence. It is in County Tipperary, Ireland. OS grid reference R823667. It is the highest of the 20 summits Peakify lists in County Tipperary.
