About Knockalongy
Knockalongy rises in the Ox Mountains, the long range of moorland between Sligo Bay and the Mayo border. It stands well apart from other high ground: its nearest higher hill is Annacoona Top, 29.1 km north-east in the Dartry Mountains. That isolation gives it 477 m of prominence, enough for Marilyn status, and it is also an Arderin.
The hill is open bog and heather with few paths. Walkers approach from the minor roads on the north side. Expect wet going and little to guide you in mist.
On a clear day the summit looks north over Sligo Bay to Benbulbin and the Dartry hills.
Knockalongy is 544 m (1,785 ft) high with 477 m of prominence. It is in Sligo and N Roscommon, Ireland. OS grid reference G504275. It is the highest of the 15 summits Peakify lists in Sligo and N Roscommon. The nearest summits are Cloonagh (4.6 km), Knocknashee (9.9 km) and Meenamaddo (9.7 km).
