About Trostan
Trostan (550 m) is the highest point in County Antrim, rising above Glenariff and Cushendall in the Glens of Antrim. It is a broad, rounded hill of blanket bog and heather, with no higher ground anywhere nearby, and its 510 m of prominence gives it wide views. The Moyle Way, a long-distance path, crosses its slopes.
Walkers often approach from Glenariff Forest Park, following the Moyle Way through the forest and up onto the open moor. The upper ground is wet and boggy, with a trig pillar and cairn on the summit.
On a clear day you can see across the North Channel to the Mull of Kintyre and the islands of Scotland.
Trostan is 550 m (1,804 ft) high with 510 m of prominence. It is in Antrim Mountains, Ireland. OS grid reference D179235. It is the highest of the 15 summits Peakify lists in Antrim Mountains. The nearest summits are Slievenanee (2.5 km), Slieveanorra (5.4 km) and Cross Slieve (8.2 km).
