About Ben Chonzie

Ben Chonzie reaches 930m (3,051ft) in the hills between Glen Lednock and Glen Turret, north of Comrie and Crieff. It is a broad, rounded mountain of grass and heather, with no crags and few features on its upper slopes. It is a Munro and a Marilyn, and it stands apart from other Munros; the nearest higher hill is Meall Greigh, 16.3km to the north-west.

The usual route starts at Invergeldie in Glen Lednock and follows an estate track up the glen, then climbs a ridge onto the plateau and along a fence line to the summit cairn. Another route climbs from Loch Turret in Glen Turret.

The hills here hold large numbers of mountain hares, which turn white in winter. The summit plateau is broad, so the fence line helps you keep to the route in mist.
