About Ben Vorlich

Ben Vorlich rises above the north-west shore of Loch Lomond, between Ardlui and Loch Sloy. It is a Munro and a Marilyn, and the highest point of Dunbartonshire. Ben Vorlich North Top lies 0.5 km to the north. The nearest higher mountain is Beinn Ime, 5.6 km to the south-west in the Arrochar Alps.

Two routes are common. From Ardlui at the head of the loch, a path climbs the long north-east ridge through grass and rock. From Inveruglas, a hydro road leads to the Loch Sloy dam, and you climb the steep west slopes from there. Many walkers go up one way and come down the other, though that needs a walk along the main road or a lift.

The summit ridge is long and narrow in places with crags on the Loch Sloy side. Views take in Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps and Ben Lomond across the water.
