It is a heathery ridge with rocky tors along its crest, separated from Mount Leinster (794 m), 7.9 km north, by the Scullogue Gap. With 537 m of prominence it looks big from the farmland around it.
Walkers often start from the Scullogue Gap road and follow the ridge south over heather and rock to the summit. The ground is rough, with deep heather in places and outcrops along the top.
From the summit you look over the Barrow valley to the west and across Wexford to the sea.
