About Foel Goch
Foel Goch stands in the rolling hill country north-east of Bala, between the Dee valley and the higher ground of the Arenig range. It is a Hewitt, a Nuttall and a Marilyn, with 274m of prominence above a col at 337m. The nearest higher hill is Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast, 8.5 km to the west.
The hill is a rounded, grassy and heathery summit typical of this part of north Wales, with farmland and forestry around its lower slopes. Paths are thin, and much of the approach crosses rough grazing and moor, so plan your line from the map before you set out and respect field boundaries on the lower ground.
From the top you can look over Llyn Tegid and across to the Arenigs and the Berwyn range.
