About Moruisg

Moruisg rises on the south side of Glen Carron, east of Achnashellach. It is a broad, rounded hill of 926m (3,038 ft), grassy and mossy rather than rocky, with steep corries on its north face. Sgurr nan Ceannaichean lies 2.3 km to the south-west, and Carn nam Fiaclan, the nearest higher hill, is 5.0 km south-east.

The usual start is a car park on the Glen Carron road east of Craig. You cross the railway and the River Carron and climb the long, wet slopes straight up to the summit plateau. Many walkers carry on to Sgurr nan Ceannaichean and drop back to the glen, or reverse the round.

The lower slopes are boggy and pathless in places. The summit plateau is broad, so a compass bearing helps in cloud. From the top you look west to the Torridon and Coulin hills.

Moruisg is 926 m (3,037 ft) high with 592 m of prominence. It is in Highland, Scotland. It is the 324th highest of the 1,458 summits Peakify lists in Highland. The nearest summits are Moruisg East Top (1.1 km), Sgurr nan Ceannaichean (2.3 km) and Cnoc na Moine (2.5 km).

Is Moruisg suitable for beginners?
