Sail Gharbh, at 809m (2654ft), is its highest point, a Corbett and a Marilyn with 550m of prominence. Spidean Coinich (764m) lies 1.5km to the south and Sail Ghorm (776m) 1.6km to the north-west, all linked by ridges with steep drops on their flanks.
Most walkers start from the car park on the Kylesku road north of Skiag Bridge. A path heads west across moorland towards the bealach in the middle of the mountain, from where you can climb north-east to Sail Gharbh. Many people make a round of the ridges, taking in Spidean Coinich from the car park first.
The ridges are rocky in places with sandstone terraces and some steep, exposed edges, but the walking route needs no scrambling. The view takes in the other Assynt hills, including Canisp, the nearest higher hill, 10.5km to the south.
