About Truskmore

Truskmore (647 m) is the highest point of the Dartry Mountains and the county top of Sligo, on a broad plateau near the border with Leitrim. Benbulbin and its limestone cliffs lie to the west on the same massif, and Tievebaun (611 m) is 2.7 km north. With 560 m of prominence, nothing higher stands nearby.

A large television transmitter mast stands on the summit, and a service road climbs to it. The rest of the plateau is open, peaty ground cut by peat hags, with limestone cliffs at its edges.

The flat top makes navigation hard in mist, though the mast helps you find the summit. From the top you look out over Sligo Bay and Donegal Bay.
