Tom na Gruagaich, the other Munro on the ridge, lies 1.3 km to the south-west, and Mullach an Rathain on Liathach stands 5.8 km to the south-east. A deep cleft, the Eag Dhubh, cuts the face of Sgurr Mor south of the summit.
The classic outing is the horseshoe from the car park by the Coire Mhic Nobuil bridge. You climb Tom na Gruagaich first through Coir nan Laogh, follow the ridge north-east to Sgurr Mor, and finish over the Horns of Alligin. The Horns give exposed scrambling on sandstone, and a path on the south side avoids the hardest steps. Walkers who want no scrambling can return the way they came.
