Ben Lui, Beinn Laoigh in Gaelic, reaches 1,131m (3,711ft) south-west of Tyndrum. Its north-east face holds a deep corrie, Coire Gaothach, between two ridges, which gives it a fine shape from Glen Cononish. Beinn a' Chleibh lies 1.7km to the south-west and Ben Oss 2.3km east. It is a Munro and a Marilyn.
From Dalrigh near Tyndrum you follow the track up Glen Cononish past Cononish farm, then climb into Coire Gaothach and up its north-east ridge to the summit. From Glen Lochy on the west side you can climb through the forest and combine Ben Lui with Beinn a' Chleibh, crossing the river first, which can be hard after rain.
In winter Central Gully, in the middle of the corrie, gives a classic snow climb. The corrie rim builds cornices, so walkers in winter need an ice axe, crampons and the skills to use them.
