Ben More reaches 1,174m (3,852ft) east of Crianlarich, the highest summit in this part of the Southern Highlands. It is a big, steep-sided cone that rises straight from Glen Dochart. Stob Binnein lies 1.7km to the south across a deep col. It is a Munro, a Marilyn and a county top.
The direct route starts at Benmore Farm on the Crianlarich to Killin road and climbs the steep north-west slope to the summit. It is a long, relentless climb with no easy angle. Many walkers continue south to the Bealach-eadar-dha Beinn and up Stob Binnein, then descend back to Benmore Glen.
