About High Seat
High Seat lies on the broad, wet ridge that runs between Borrowdale and the Thirlmere valley. Its summit is a small rocky knob with a trig pillar, surrounded by peat bog. Bleaberry Fell lies 1.5km north and High Tove 1.5km south, both on the same ridge.
From Ashness Bridge on the Watendlath road, a path climbs to Bleaberry Fell and follows the ridge south to High Seat. From Watendlath, a path climbs east to High Tove, then north along the ridge. Between the tops the path crosses deep bog, and you will pick your way round pools and peat hags.
Expect wet feet after rain. The ridge is broad, so take a compass bearing in mist. The view west takes in the Derwentwater fells and the Scafell range beyond Borrowdale.
