About High Tove
High Tove lies on the broad moorland ridge between Thirlmere to the east and the Watendlath valley to the west. High Seat is 1.5 km north along the ridge, and Armboth Fell 1.0 km south-east. The summit is a small cairn on peat and grass, with a fence nearby.
The bridleway from Armboth on Thirlmere's west shore to Watendlath crosses the ridge just south of the summit, and that path gives the usual ascent from either side. Walkers heading along the ridge from High Seat or towards Ullscarf will find it boggy, and the ground between High Tove and High Seat is notorious for wet peat.
The top is flat, but it gives a clear view west to the Borrowdale fells and east across Thirlmere to the Helvellyn range.
