Troutbeck Tongue lies 2.3km to the north-east across the valley.

From Ambleside, a pitched path climbs beside Stock Ghyll to Wansfell Pike, and a path follows the wall north-east along the ridge to Baystones. From Troutbeck, Nanny Lane climbs to the ridge near Wansfell Pike. The ridge between the two tops is grassy and wet in places.
