The Yorkshire Dales are limestone country: scars, pavements and long green valleys under flat-topped hills. Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent make up the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a 24-mile round from Horton in Ribblesdale. The Howgills to the north-west are steep grassy fells with few walls and fewer people. Each hill below has its own summit forecast and routes.
