About Foel Grach

Foel Grach sits on the main Carneddau ridge between Carnedd Llewelyn and Foel-fras. It reaches 975m (3199ft) and is a Furth, a Hewitt, a Nuttall and one of the Welsh 3000s. Garnedd Uchaf (925m) is 1km to the north, Carnedd Llewelyn (1064m), the nearest higher hill, 1.6km south, and Foel-fras (944m) 2.3km north.

Most walkers reach Foel Grach on the ridge between Carnedd Llewelyn and Foel-fras, often from Abergwyngregyn in the north or as part of a Welsh 3000s walk. The ridge is broad and grassy, with stony patches near the summits, and easy to follow in clear weather.

The summit is stony and broad. A small stone refuge hut sits below the top on the north side, for emergency shelter only. In cloud the plateau gives few landmarks, so carry a map and compass.
