About Carnedd Llewelyn

Carnedd Llewelyn is the high point of the Carneddau, the largest area of high ground in Wales. It reaches 1064m (3491ft) and has 750m of prominence, which makes it a Furth, a Hewitt, a Nuttall, a Marilyn, a county top and one of the Welsh 3000s. Yr Elen (962m) is 1.2km to the north-west, Foel Grach (975m) 1.6km north, and Carnedd Dafydd (1044m) 2.5km south-west.

The standard routes climb from Ogwen. One goes over Pen yr Helgi Du and the narrow, rocky Bwlch Eryl Farchog, below the cliffs of Craig yr Ysfa. The other follows the ridge from Carnedd Dafydd.

The summit is a broad, stony plateau with a large cairn and shelters. In cloud it is easy to go wrong, so take a map and compass.
