About Longlands Fell

Longlands Fell is the north-western outlier of the Uldale Fells, the grassy group behind Skiddaw. Brae Fell lies 1.3 km to the east, Meal Fell 1.8 km to the south-east and Great Cockup 2.1 km to the south. Beyond it the land drops to the farmland of the Solway plain.

The ground is smooth grass with few crags, and the paths are faint in places. Most walkers start at Longlands, climb the short slope to the summit and carry on east to Brae Fell or south-east towards Great Sca Fell. In mist the rounded tops look alike, so carry a map and compass.

Longlands Fell is a Wainwright and a Birkett. Few people come this way, and the top has a wide view north over the Solway Firth towards Scotland.
